When you agree a rate with a client, that number represents the full value of the work. A payment processor that deducts 2.9% reduces what reaches you without reducing what the client pays. At $3,000 per month in freelance income, that is $87 per month taken before it reaches your bank account. At $10,000, it is $290. Across a year, the figure compounds into a significant sum taken from income already agreed upon.
For merchants selling products, this is a cost of goods. For creators and freelancers, it is a reduction in the rate you negotiated for your time.
What percentage fees cost creators
PayPal's standard rate for receiving payments is 3.49% plus a fixed fee. Stripe is 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. For international transactions, both are higher: PayPal charges up to 4.4% for cross-border payments, Stripe adds 1.5% for international cards.
For a freelancer billing $5,000 per month to international clients, the effective fee at 4% is $200 per month - or $2,400 per year. That is a meaningful deduction from income that was agreed in full.
What XRP payments mean for your income
DropPay has no per-transaction fee. The Free plan is $0 per month. Pro is $9.99 per month. There are no deductions from individual payments. What the client sends in XRP equivalent is what arrives in your wallet.
The XRP Ledger charges a network fee under one cent per transaction. This fee goes to the network, not to DropPay, and is paid by the sender. It does not reduce what you receive.
Two ways to get paid on DropPay
Payment Links are the main tool for freelancers and consultants. You create a payment request from your dashboard, set the amount in your invoice currency, and share the link with your client. No website needed, no code, no setup beyond your account and XRP wallet. The client clicks, pays in XRP, and the funds arrive in your wallet in seconds. See Payment Links for how it works.
Tip Pages are designed for creators who want to accept direct support from their audience. Your tip page lives at droppayxrp.com/tip/{handle} and is embeddable on any website with a single script tag. Visitors can send any amount in XRP. This suits writers, musicians, educators, podcasters, and anyone with an audience that supports their work directly.
Who your clients and audience already are in XRP markets
XRP has strong retail adoption in Japan and South Korea, where it trades on major regulated exchanges and is widely held. Significant communities exist in the US, Europe, Nigeria, and Argentina. Freelancers and creators with clients or audiences in these markets will find XRP familiarity higher than they expect.
For clients or supporters in markets with lower XRP familiarity, offering XRP as an additional payment option alongside your existing method lets people self-select. Clients already comfortable with crypto will use it. Others can continue using your existing method.
Getting set up
- Create your DropPay account at droppayxrp.com/signup.
- Add your XRP wallet address in Settings. If you do not have a wallet yet, How to Get an XRP Wallet covers the process.

The Free plan covers up to 25 payments per month at no cost. Pro at $9.99 per month removes the limit and adds CSV export for accounting, webhooks, and API access. See the pricing page for the full comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to understand XRP or crypto to use this? You need an XRP wallet, which is an account on any exchange that lists XRP. You set prices in your normal currency, receive XRP, and convert to local currency when you are ready. You do not need to understand how the XRP Ledger works.
How do I convert XRP to local currency? XRP stays in your wallet until you initiate a conversion on an exchange. The XRP conversion guide covers this for major markets including Japan, South Korea, Nigeria, Argentina, Europe, and the US.
What if my client does not have XRP? Clients need an exchange account to buy XRP before paying. For clients new to the process, How to Pay with XRP walks through each step. Offering XRP alongside your existing payment method means clients can choose without any friction on your end.
Does the Free plan really have no transaction fees? Yes. DropPay charges no percentage on payments on either plan. The Free plan costs $0 per month and supports up to 25 payments. Pro costs $9.99 per month for unlimited payments. Neither plan takes a cut of individual transactions.
